As the temperature drops in Korea, the streets transform into a vibrant display of seasonal delicacies. Today, I passed by a local fruit stall that perfectly captures the essence of a Korean winter.

  • Gotgam (곶감 - Dried Persimmon): Often called "nature's candy," these are peeled and air-dried until they reach a perfect, chewy consistency. In Korean culture, they were historically a precious treat served to guests or used in traditional ceremonies.
  • Wang-bam (왕밤 - King Chestnuts): Koreans love chestnuts, whether they are steamed, roasted, or even eaten raw. The sign in the photo says "Wang-bam," meaning they are exceptionally large and high-quality.
